New Math Vocab
We have been working on ordering and comparing 2 or 3 numbers. When you have an extra minute or two, ask your firstie to explain to you what the words "greater/lesser & greatest/least" mean. These were our first words added to our Math Helpers vocabulary chart. We practiced ordering dominoes, putting numbers on a number line, comparing towers with partners, etc. Any time we have ordered numbers, we have practiced using our new vocabulary words "greatest/least"...our brains are too smart to simple say "biggest/smallest." The pictures above are from a game the kids were playing in partners..kind of like rock-paper-scissors..They hid their blocks and would flash a tower of 1-10 cubes up quickly to their partner. They had to decide which tower had the greater/lesser number of cubes. You could play this at home using dried pasta, cereal, beads, buttons, etc.
