Angry Birds

Just in case any of you have been wondering about why your child comes home saying they played the Angry Birds game at school....let me clarify. ;) Our game is a little different from the phone game; we play Bossy R Angry Birds!  All of our birds have er/ir/or/ur/ar words on them.  The game is a fun way to practice reading words that have an r-controlled vowel.
Speaking of that Bossy R...
Let me share with you a trick we use in our room to remember how to decode these words.  The Bossy R likes to sneak up behind vowels and boss them around.  He *POOF* turns the A into a pirate, making the AR say arrrrr matey.  The Bossy R *POOF* turns the E, I, & U into roosters, making the ER, IR, & UR say errr-er-er-er-errrr (<--that's my best rooster call).  The ER is so noisy, that the Bossy R always makes him go to the end of the word.  I can't tell you yet what he does to the O, because it's still a surprise for the kiddos for next week. ;)

Here's a clip of Bossy R word building:
