We are working on place value right now. The other day, teams worked together to find an efficient way to organize a bucket of cubes for quick counting.
Ta-Da! Everyone came to the conclusion that organizing our cubes into "towers of 10 with leftover 1's" was the best strategy. Ask your firstie to sing the 10s/1s song for you!
"Well, I don't know, but I've been told...The 10's are tall and the 1's are small...First I count up all the 10s...Then add all the babies onto the end...Sound off..etc, etc"
