Recycling Center Field Trip

We got to experience the coolest thing today!  We went on our field trip to the Conway Recycling Center to see exactly what happens to all of that recycling we collect at school every day.  I know the kids enjoyed themselves, because I was oohing & ahhing right alongside them! It was very neat getting to see the big machinery in action and the massive amounts of recycled materials that we helped keep out of the landfills.  Here are a few snapshots for you to take it all in as well!

The machines were massive!  They can even smash & bundle broken garbage cans to recycle.

Throwing styrofoam into the machine that melts it down & getting to feel the finished product...It turns it into something that is as hard as glass.  The kids couldn't quit touching it, amazed that THIS came from melting the styrofoam chunks.
